General Meeting Tuesday 25 May: Travels in Gondwana

Club Member, Jennifer Read presented a most interesting and informative paper entitled “Travels in Gondwanan Forests: Southern Beech Forests” addressing such conundrums as the similarity of the vegetation and flora of southern temperate zone regions separated by large oceans.

This includes New Zealand, Australia(Victoria and Tasmania), Chile, Argentina, New Caledonia and Papua New Guinea. Jennifer described her journeys in South America, New Zealand and the tropics – the challenges of travel to remote places, the people and the diversity of the landscapes and vegetation.
